Vehicle recalls? Do dealerships/manufactures cover recalls on vehicles that are over 10 years old? The last recall on my year/model car was in 2001-2002 and I am not sure if the recall was dealt with on this specific car. Will they cover any of the previous recalls from before 2002?
Does anyone know where i can check vehicle recalls? I want to specifically see if my vehicle has had any recalls taken care of or not. Is there a site other than the national highway safety site that will give me specific info on the used vehicle i just got? it is a 1999 Hyundai Elantra.
Vehicle recalls? Why wait for so many compaints? I just read an article that said Toyota is recalling some of it's 2003 & 2004 vehicles after receiving 143 reports of window bolts becoming loose and causing the windows to rattle or shatter. Does there have to be a certain amount of complaints before an investigation or recall can be issued? Seems crazy to accumulate so many complaints before finally issuing a recall for the dangerous windows.
Did you know that Honda had more recalls per vehicle than any of the Big Three Last year? Not only did they have more recalls, but they had more problems per 100 vehicles than Lincoln, Mercury, Chrysler, and Cadillac? Sounds like the Japanese aren't as reliable as we think. Actually, Chrysler, Ford and GM are quick to recall repeated problems. Nowadays with people going crazy over law suits, it is cheaper and easier to recall cars than get sued.
How do recalls on a vehicle work if you buy the car used? Is there a time limitation on getting a recall fixed for free? It is a '99 van. The recall was issued in '01. It is not anything like a fire hazard or problem with the fuel tank. Just a door latch on the automatic door. It has been causing problems because sometimes it won't latch right and comes open. I have had the van two years (bought off individual) and just found the recall today when I was investigating the problem.
By law does a car dealership have to disclose that there were recalls on a used vehicle you are pruchasing? We bought a used car from a dealership 3 yrs ago and had to take it in for some things to be fixed(under warranty) but while it was there the mechanic called and said there were some recalled parts that weren't fixed so he was ordering the parts. By the way the recalls happened 1,2 and 3 yrs before we bought it. We bought it 3 yrs old. Should we have been told this when buying it?
If there was a vehicle recall from 1999, can it still be taken in today? Just found out about a few recalls on my vehicle I never knew of, and would like to know if it's ok to take it in to the dealership I bought it from, without hassle? 1998 Cavalier has "8" different recall, in which I wasn't informed of any. Having problems, and noticed that 3 of the recalls are problems I have. I don't see an expiration date on the recalls, so I assume I can take it in? Thank You all for your help, really appreciate it...
Vehicle Car Recalls...How Long are they Valid? Hi There, As a general rule, if a vehicle has had a recall for a defect, is there a time expiration involved? My car is 8 years old. Also, is there a good website that lists recalls? Thanks so much and I hope you have a great week ahead! :-)
Question regarding vehicle recalls...? I just bought a used car. Can you take it to the dealer to check that all the recalls were fixed? If not do they do this for free, or is there a window time frame? 04 grand prix
How does a vehicle recall work? I just bought a 97 blazer 2 weeks ago and yesterday my windshield wipers stopped working. I was checking on the net to see if anyone else had the same problem and what the fix was for it. I found that year model had a recall of the wiper circuit board and motor cover due to them catching on fire. How do I know if the previouse owner had this fixed and can I still bring it to a chevy dealer and have it fixed under the recall even though I am not the original owner. the recall apparently came out in 2003.
why is it so hard for chevy to share (online) any vehicle recall information? Going online to find official chevy info for a family members chevy van is a task that chevy apparently doesn't want to let people do.... the "mygmlink" is not helpful, it makes me register, and wants to know what vehicle i own, and then asks me to fax proof of ownership of the vehicle before email-ing me the recall notices....
How does a recall compare to a warranty on a vehicle? The warranty on my vehicle already expired. How ever I noticed there is a recall on my vehicle and the recall is the reason for my mechanical failure. Does my vehicle still qualify for repairs done by the dealer?
Who pays for repairs for a vehicle recall? We are financing to own a Mercury mountaineer Yr: 2000. Turns out it has a recall from 2007. Information on the recall here: http://www.internetautoguide.com/auto-recalls/09-int/2000/mercury/mountaineer/index.html Recall: 48848 When we take the car in to get it fixed at the dealership, as we were instructed to do by the Ford company, who will pay for it? is there a charge?
What would happen if persons did not drive a vehicle for one day/? We need to address this issue and find a solution which is the manufacturing of electrical vehicles. They need to be manufactured and other vehicles recalled and disessembled to push the price of metal to meet economic needs...Tony Blair wants to build in Gaza and this is just a beginning to a new level of metal needs...We have all of this garbage and need management of assets to produce positive environmental and economical status...Anyone understand this? Hydrogen cars ...? What would iniate change? WE can not continue this strategy forever...Do you get it...?
Is there a website for every vehicle recall. If not the original owner the dealership will fix for free.True? Does this work from state to state? Does it cost to check, like carfax? If so doesn't that mean when buying a used car you could get the VI # and check it out 1st?
Why do they have recalls on vehicles? Shouldn't they have all that shit figured out BEFORE they sell it! I had a recall on my Honda cause apparently you could turn the ignition off when it was not in park. Now DODGE is recalling like 150,00 trucks cause of the passenger air bag. I don't get it?
Anyone own a Jeep? I have had several recalls for service on a vehicle that is only a year old? Any Lawyers? i have contacted the warranty group, they just give me run around. I was going to call that guy LaSorda or Dieter what;s his name, I am still getting notices for something that should have been fixed two times ago... Something with steering and warning lights Do i smell law suit? I just can't get any solutions. I should demand a new suv and be done with it. what you think?
What is the name of the 4-motor electric vehicle prototype? I recall reading about an electric vehicle that used a small motor behind each wheel of a vehicle, and the timing was controlled by on CPU. I think GM had it. Does anyone know where I can get pictures or a URL? Thanks! It's not the Tesla; the Tesla Roadster is a mid-engine and has one electric motor behind the driver.
I recently bought a Dogde Dorango 2002, and a friend at work informed me that this vehicle was recalled? sometime ago for Suspension:front:control arm : upper ball joint problems. So my question is what do I do, and if I have to go to a dealer will this service be free. Please, if you so have any information on this kindly let me know.
How do dealers and car manufacturers work together under recalls? I have a recall on my head gasket for my vehicle. I am wondering now if there was any damage done to the engine by it overheating due to the failed head gasket how much the dealer is going to work for me or for the car manufacturer in getting the complete repair under warranty. I spoke with several toyota dealerships in my area and I chose the one which seemed to have the most laid back service person. What I am worried now is , I had taken my coolant backflow resevoir out of my engine compartment a while back and I just had it towed into the service department at the Toyota dealership. Will they be reporting back to Toyota now that I do not have a backflow resevoir in my engine compartment and therefore make Toyota want to blame any damage on my "neglect"?? even though I dont think the resovoir really was used anyways. The service person at this dealership seemed to imply that he wouldnt tell them that I perhaps was notified by a couple of months earlier about this recall at another dealership. (even though I admitted that to him on the phone)
Is a vehicle recall a bad thing? Is it a bad thing for Ford to recall a bazillion vehicles due to "possible faulty switches"? I wonder how much money they actually make from owners bringing their vehicles in, and having Ford go ahead and change the oil and rotate the tires while its in the shop.? Is Ford really losing any money in this deal? It goes for other companies too..just happening with Ford today: http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/070803/ford_recall.html?.v=1 there is some great answers here..IF the question was "do I have to get my oil changed while in for my recall". Of course, that wasnt the question. The question is: do the manufacturers like a recall..?..because it brings hundreds more vehicles through the shop doors, which increases the chances of customers getting other things done while the car is in the stall.
What vehicle is known to last a long time? I'm looking for a vehicle old or new that comes with out too many recalls, breakdowns such as engine, transmission or anything else that is under the hood that blows out at XXXXXX amount of miles, I rather NOT have power windows, power locks, power whatever else but its ok but I just need something that the power doesn't go out at XXXXXX, something built to last and stand rough harsh weather or train esp. living up in alaska....So, it has to be either a 4x4 but I could go with FWD or RWD. ALSO IT HAS TO BE AGOOD ON GAS MILEAGE!!!!!!!! When I mean train I DO NOT mean mr. choochoo.Train as in bumpy roads, man holes stick up or sinking down on the streets, 6/12/24 inches of ice during the winter time.Alaska roads are rough from the wear and tear from the studded tires, and snow.So off hand something with a smooth ride.
Honda recalls,Toyota recalles, what happened to quality? Honda recalled 1 millionvehicles last week and Toyota has recalled over 2.7 million vehicles in 2006 and has lawsuits over engine problems. So what happened to thier quality,I believe this is the end of quality products for them. And don't tell me this is a good thing, when ever GM,Ford or Chrysler have recalls everyone says they build poor quality vehicles. Work at Toledo Jeep assembly, home of Jeep Wrangler,Jeep Liberty and Dodge Nitro.
Should I have to pay out of pocket for a vehicle recall? I was having a problem with my car stalling out when I came to stop, such as a stop sign or light. It would cut off, but then start back up. My check engine light was not coming on so it was hard to diagnose, I tried many different things that mechanics told me to do, finally it gave out and I had a harder time starting it back up. The check engine light finally came on when it got this bad and I took it in yet again. This time they told me that the code was for the crankshaft position sensor, and that it had been in a recall, and I needed to take it to the dealer. Here is the recall Auto Recall Date: 11/14/2007 Vehicle Component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING Estimated Vehicles Affected: 653910 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA Defect Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.5L ENGINE, THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CAN OVERHEAT CAUSING A BRIEF INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL OUTPUT FROM THE SENSOR. Defect Consequence: IF THE INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL FROM THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS SO BRIEF THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) LOGIC DOES NOT HAVE TIME TO DIAGNOSE THE CONDITION, THE ENGINE MAY STOP RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AT A LOW SPEED INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE ECM FREE OF CHARGE. CERTAIN MY 2006 ALTIMAS WHICH HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY REMEDIED UNDER RECALL CAMPAIGN 06V223 (NISSAN R0606) ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL SINCE THE REPROGRAMMING FOR 06V223 ALSO INCLUDED THIS REPROGRAMMING. THE RECALL BEGAON ON DECEMBER 31, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261. Notes: NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC., Nissan told me they reprogram the ECM for free, but that I have to pay over $200.00 for a new crankshaft position sensor. Reading the recall it sounds like the sensor is the problem with it overheating. Why should I have to pay out of pocket for this?
Sure I have a law suit out on a motor Vehicle recall although can anyone tell me what that has to do? with the government????????????????????????? or with any government in the world ???????????? I am not trying to sue the federal government for anything only a car corporation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Has anyone heard of any recalls on the Condor motorhome concerning the winshield or any other problems ? I have a 2002 condor P32 motorhome that has been falling apart since the day I bought it. My main gripe here is that the winshield is close to falling out of it now. Whenever I jack the vehicle up (level) at a camp spot, the winshield pops out on the lower corners, tearing the gasket more each time. When I lower the vehicle to drive away the winshield comes back to where it belongs partly but you can still shove your fingers betwween the body and the winshield. It could and probably will fall out when driving down the road. I hope to get this resolved by safety recalls or lemon laws because the dealer has been little help. They temporarily kept fixing it till the warranty wore out. Any info will be appreciated.
I have been told that Toyota has a recall on the head gasket on my vehicle.? Will they cover any damage done to my engine by overheating you think as well? (such as skimming the head or replacement of whatever) I was told they will pay up to $50 of the tow bill by the dealership.
how many people have been killed or injured whilst sitting in there vehicle on the hard shoulder? I can recall 1 case of a car getting smashed and another of a lorry driver being killed when his load of steel was pushed through the cab. Have a few issolated accidents been used as an excusse to brain wash people into thinking the hard shoulder is very dangerouse so leave your vehicle if it breaks down, as once it starts being used as an extra lane accidents like this are going to increase
importing vehicle us to canada requirements? Just wondering if anyone has recently imported a vehicle from the US to Canada? if so do you know where you would get the recall letter from? Will just any dealership give you one? Any help would make this easier.
Has anyone ever heard of a "silent recall" on a vehicle? If so, what was your experience with it?
Is there a time frame to fix something on your vehicle that was recalled? bought a used 1998 Chevrolet S10 a few months ago, and recall was listed in 2000
Looking to buy a 1998 buick lesabre. What are common issues I should check for in the vehicle before signing? I do know about the recall and am asking the dealer about it. But are there any other common problems I should check it for. Mostly a repair that might cost me more then 200 bucks.
When buying a used car, how do you know if the recalls have been performed? I have a 2001 PT Cruiser.? First time buying a car from a dealer and didn't think to ask when I bought the vehicle. Any info would be great.
Honda recalls, what quality? Honda recalled about 1 million vehicles last week, what happened to thier quality? And don't tell me it is a good thing and then when GM,Ford or Chrysler recall vehicles say it is because of thier quality. Work at Toledo Jeep assembly, home of Jeep Wrangler,Jeep Liberty and Dodge Nitro.
If Toyota is recalling head gaskets on my vehicle..........? and I blew one the other day which caused me to damage the head of my engine, would Toyota be pay for a new head to my engine or atleast the repair of whatever damage was caused by the faulty head gasket on recall? should they also pay the tow bill? what if I was informed of this recall by the dealer when I was there a two months ago, but didnt have time and didnt expect this to happen right after? Will I not be able to get them to cover any damage then? why so?
do i need a car title if i have vehicle registration? trying to sell my car? I bought it used as well from a saturn dealership (my car's a toyota) and don't recall ever getting a title.
How can i tell if a 2nd hand 1996/97 Mercury Grand Marquis has had a recall on the intake manifold ? The Grand Marquis circa. 1996 had a recall because of faulty intake manifold. How can i EASILY tell, when viewing with intent to purchase secondhand, if a vehicle has been recalled and modified manifold ? Obviously if job has already been done is a bonus, and negates chances of manifold becoming or being faulty. thank You.
if a dealer is to do recall work on my vehicle, is there any cost to me? my ford explorer is being glitchy but i am broke. so im wondering if i will get charged for them doing the recall work on it thanx
Does the dealership provide a rental car if my car was recalled? I have to make an appointment to have my car serviced and for the dealership to make modifications to my side airbags due to a recent recall on my vehicle. I'm also having some other mechanical issues. My car is financed through Ford Credit, still under warranty, and only 2 years old. Will the dealership provide a rental car? I would like to know before I call and make the appointment. I need to make my transportation arrangements ahead of time.
Does anyone know why the day running lights on Chevrolets burn out, i checked for recalls but found nothing.? I've noticed on all chevrolet models, full size vehicles equipped with the day running lights have either one, or both lights burnt out. I replaced the bulbs and checked the fuse on my 2001 tahoe and they are still not working.
